Four Years of Russia's War Against Ukraine: The Civilians, a Five-Hour Broadcast from Kyiv

Deported children, journalists home from captivity, a Kharkiv-region videographer detained by Russian forces, aid runs with Phil Ehr, and a chaplain's view.

For the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion I put together a five-hour broadcast on Ukraine's civilians, built from four years of my footage. It opens at St. Michael's Square beside the destroyed Russian vehicles and the memorial wall of the fallen, with names going back to 2014.

Kristina Shkudra of PR Army's "Where Are Our People" project explains the scale of Russia's deportation of Ukrainian children. From the Empty Chairs event, journalists returned from captivity speak, among them Dmytro Khyliuk, and colleagues remember Viktoriia Roshchyna. I also show a first-year aid run with Phil Ehr through Mykolaiv and the Bucha area.

The longest film profiles Anatoliy, a videographer from Savyntsi in Kharkiv region who filmed his village for decades and was held about 100 days in Balakliia. We close with Jesuit chaplain Andriy Zelinskyi and a Petrykivka painter decorating Kyiv's barricades.
